Our Approach

Conservation is at the heart of everything we do. Every project begins with establishing the building’s history, the significance of its surviving fabric and its conservation and repair requirements. By combining practical heritage carpentry experience with formal conservation training, we design solutions to retain original materials wherever possible, whilst ensuring long-term performance.
Our heritage carpenters use traditional materials, proven repair techniques and a repair-rather-than-replace philosophy to preserve the character and authenticity of historic buildings across Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire.
iwoodcreate was founded on a passion for traditional craftsmanship, historic buildings and the conservation of our built heritage.
Specialising in heritage carpentry, timber repairs, historic window restoration, linseed oil paint, traditional joinery and conservation advice and solutions, our aim is to help owners and custodians preserve historic buildings through practical craftsmanship informed by conservation principles.
Whether working on a listed cottage, country estate, church, historic window or traditional timber structure, we conserve all original aspects where possible while ensuring building longevity and the functionality of its features.

A Tradition of Craftsmanship

Woodworking has been part of iwoodcreate’s family for twelve generations, providing a strong foundation in traditional craftsmanship and an appreciation of the skills that shaped many of Britain's historic buildings. This background has developed into a professional career spanning more than 12 years within the heritage sector, working on a wide variety of historic structures, traditional joinery projects and conservation repairs.
A deep understanding of traditional methods, historic materials and conservation principles allows us to provide reliable and considerate heritage consultancy services and ensures repairs remain sympathetic to the character and significance of the building.

Repair Rather Than Replace

A core principle of iwoodcreate is the belief that the original fabric of heritage buildings should be retained wherever practical. Historic timber often contains craftsmanship, materials and construction techniques that cannot be recreated through wholesale replacement. By understanding the causes of deterioration and applying appropriate repair techniques, many elements can continue serving historic buildings for decades.
Our repair-rather-than-replace approach supports good conservation practices and helps preserve the unique character and authenticity of historic structures.
